Patent Management
Patent management provides geographically distributed IP departments, law firms, inventors and stakeholders to operate as one for competitive advantage.
Patent case information is organized into electronic tri-folders analogous to the current paper file folders. All participants in the process, including inventors, in-house counsels, law firm attorneys, administrators, docketing clerks, annuity payment service providers and others, are linked to this database and given selective access to information relevant to their role in the process. Access privileges are controlled so that each participant sees only what is necessary to carry out their responsibilities.
Patent Management brings structure to your patent application preparation, filing through prosecution and maintenance processes. The system automates docketing; drafts submission, review and approval processes; formal documents preparation; divisional, continuation and CIP approvals; international filing review and approval processes as well as streamlines your annuity review and approval process.
In-house patent counsels can manage budgets, estimates and actuals for each prosecution activity to efficiently manage resources and reduce costs.
Key Features:
Centralized repository
Patent case information is centrally organized into electronic case files. All correspondence and emails between attorneys, inventors and other case participants is stored in the electronic case file to provide a single source of all relevant information.
Prosecution workflow management
Prosecution actions include specific templates and workflow for each prosecution action. The examples include restriction requirements, office actions, response to office action, other PTO correspondence, notices of allowance, checklists, allowed claims, etc. These documents may be in Word, Excel, Visio, PDF, TIFF or other formats. Official correspondence is stored as unalterable images in the exact form they were filed in or received from the patent office.
Docketing management
Docketing management is fully integrated with case files, docketing is automatically associated with cases, and the user can instantly link from docket to the case file, or from case file to docket.
The system provides patent statutory country rules for several countries. You can also add your own custom docket generation rules. IDS management IDS Management provides features for uploading different types of references/citations, linking references to multiple patent applications and patents and workflow to manage cross referencing review and approval processes. Further, the system generates IDS forms and keep track of updates made on references for auditing purposes.
Spend management
Patent prosecution management provides comprehensive budget, estimates and actuals management for each task performed by law firms. Each estimate provided by law firms goes through a review and approval process. This provides a complete and most up to date budget situation.
Patent portfolio management
Create, manage and analyze your portfolios and cluster them by technology areas, product groups and other business factors.
Annuity review and approvals
The annuity review and approval process can be triggered at a pre-determined schedule and let participants provide their input to the decision. This streamlined process saves a lot of money spent un-necessarily on maintaining non-core patents every year. You can also produce an output to your annuity service provider in their required format.
